Watch this little video recap of the 2009 NRHA Derby. Now, be prepared, this isn’t a slick results-type video you’ll see on Inside Reining with Jenifer Reynolds. She’s the pro at those things. So, this is a little ditty made up of random bits shot by NRHA Staff during the Derby. You’ll notice some of us need more steady hands
but overall it’s a good snap shot of happenings (outside of the arena) this year. Enjoy!

Hope you enjoyed these pics by Dawn Baxstrom!
Check out the video interview of this year’s Collegiate Reining Champion – Auburn University’s Lyndsey Jordan!
Go Auburn! What is their mascot anyway? Ah – the Tigers! Grrrrrrrrr!

It’s “Think Pink” day.
Check out these pics from the youth meeting this afternoon. They did some great team building exercises and visited over lunch.
And look at the cool decorations at the Rein In Cancer Raffle filly’s stall. Shorty and the ladies did a great job!

Don’t you just hate it when you get a new cool Cinch shirt… and then someone else is wearing the same darn shirt – on the same day? We busted Todd (NRHA Marketing) and Brandon (Kiser Arena Specialists) wearing the same adorable outfit yesterday. I think one of them high tailed it to go change.
So…If I go missing, you’ll know one of them took me out for posting this

Below are a few shots from the Platinum Performance Exhibitor Party Tuesday night. It was great that the show was over early and that so many reiners could participate in the NRHyA Egg and Spoon Race benefiting Special Olympics. The NRHyA Officer Team raised $500 for Special Olympics at the event. Way to go guys!
Arena 3 was crammed full of folks geared up to compete and have a little fun. You’ll have to check out the video interview of the “World Champion” team that the NRHA Reiner’s Katie Hendrickson shot. They were such good sports. You can find it in the previous blog post.
The basketball tournament was pretty intense, but everyone seemed to have a good time (and there weren’t any injuries!) We were extremely thankful for Purina’s sponsorship of the sacks of feed that kept the portable basketball hoop in place (we told them about their gracious donation after Todd ‘borrowed’ a couple of bags to get the job done
Congrats to Tom, Lindsey & Jim McCutcheon and Jason Vanlandingham for taking home the championship! You’ll have to check out their pic below (I wonder why they chose the Equine Senior bag to pose with…hmmm)
And last, but not least, thanks to Kyle Tack for providing us some refreshing, cold beverages during the party for everyone. Marshall sure knows the way to keep us happy
I was cruising my way to Scott’s Cleaners this morning to drop off some jeans and I smelled the familiar smell of cinnamon rolls at the Sweet Shop. I looked down at the jeans I was leaving to get starched, and I decided to pass on the delicious morning treat ’cause I know right where those things go. LOL
But it made me think…You know, I grew up in OKC and have worked many a horse show here. And it seems in our hustle and bustle of getting the job done, sometimes we overlook the things that make a place feel like home (at least for a week or two). Like a hug from Bill and Betty Flarida. Bob Dent’s voice on the PA rounding up folks to get in the pen. The new neon “Gateway of Champions.” That little place in The Biltmore I’m sure a few of us have enjoyed a little too much at least once in our lives (there’s not a picture of that place included below – wouldn’t want to incriminate anyone
I did however post a few pics below of things that make me think of horse shows here at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds (and a few obscure things you may not have seen during your time in “The City.”)
Well, I’m headed to the Exhibitor Party to see who is gonna win those awesome Egg and Spoon Trophies!
So I’m a fan of a horse names. Be it the horse is named after a song (Butterfly Kisses) or a few racehorses (and propects) friends of mine own (Better Bet On Me, Cuz I Said, Between Boyfriends and Shakalaka). I thought I’d share some of the ones that jumped out at me competing in the Derby today.
Im The Chic Magnet … oh. why, yes he is!
Custom Harley …very appropriate considering a Harley convention is at the fairgrounds next week. LeeAnn Rimes is singing. Not exactly who I would have expected. But anyways.
Cornbread N Chicn….gotta love it! now I’m hungry.
Ima Dirty Dancer… no comment… but I did like the movie. “This is my dance space. This is your dance space.”
Whizin In The Dirt….again, no comment..
Three Socks Ana Spot… hmmm. i wonder how this horse is marked?
Dunit Pistol Pete….Go OSU Cowboys!
Princess On The Prowl…she’s looking for the ‘chic magnet’
Kickit In The Bud….better get your game on or stay out of this one’s way!
Shiny A Nuff….reminds me – my truck needs a bath.
It’s been a crazy few days packing up from the office, moving in, seeing everyone and getting the show running. I’m just now getting a few quiet moments to blog (Thank goodness I have Twitter on my phone so I can keep everyone in-the-know that way!) It’s been a little hot around here, but I keep thinking back to my days working the AQHYA World Show…in August…. in Fort Worth…and I remember I will live…I won’t melt. It could be worse. But I am glad we have some Port A Cools set up in Arena 3 for people to ‘chill’ at (pardon the pun). Maybe we should get ladies Secret as a Derby sponsor for next year? Hmmm. That’s a thought. LOL
Anyway, you can check out some pics of our move-in madness below. We started on Thursday (thanks to all of the ladies staying in the ‘real’ office and holding the fort down!), and it takes a lot of heavy lefting to get it all handled (thanks J.D. for being our official heavy object lifter guy
I’ll post some more fun stuff from today shortly!
Happy Reining!

(ps..The last picture is me – with longer hair – just in case you want to stop me at the show and hit me with a good blog brainstorm.)
