Ancillary Opportunities

Two full slates of ancillary classes are scheduled for the 2011 NRHA Derby Show with Montana Silversmiths Buckles being awarded to the overall champion in each class from the two slates. Ancillary entries are post entry and are due by 5 p.m. CST the day before the class runs. Day stalls are only $50/horse/day for ancillary horses only.

Green Reiner Classes

Green Reiner Level 1 and 2 classes give reiners with less than $100 in NRHA earnings an opportunity to compete against others at the same skill level. Remember – only a $20 NRHA Associate membership is required (competition licenses and non pro declarations are not required)! So don’t miss this beginning-level show opportunity at the world’s most recognized venue for the sport of Reining.

Onsite Member Services

Stop by the NRHA Zone on the Coliseum West Concourse or the NRHA Derby Show Office to complete NRHA business transactions. Bring all of your paperwork for competition licenses, transfers, memberships, nominations or anything else and NRHA staff will be there to take care of you. While you’re on the West Concourse, visit NRHA Outfitters to get the latest NRHA-logoed gear. From caps and t-shirts to outerwear and accessories, NRHA Outfitters will have you covered in style!

Tuesday, June 28th

SmartPak™ Derby Party
Everyone is invited to the SmartPak Derby Party on Tuesday, June 28 at 7 p.m. in the Arena 3 Cabana! SmartPak will host the “Put the Scoop Down” Feeding Challenge where teams compete relay-style in a supplement feeding competition — fastest team wins! The festivities also will include the infamous NRHA Three-on-Three Basketball Tournament, NRHyA Dunk Tank and lots of fun for the whole family! Take a few moments to visit with NRHA Corporate Partner SmartPak and see what special surprise they have for you!

AQHA & APHA Classes
Two slates of AQHA and APHA classes will be offered again this year! AQHA classes include: Open, Amateur, Youth (13 & Under and 14 – 18). APHA competition includes: Open, Amateur, Regular Youth (13 & Under and 14 – 18) and Solid (Open, Amateur, Youth All Ages). Entries are post entry and are due by 5 p.m. the day before the class runs. High point buckles will be awarded for the overall champion in each class from the two slates!

Wednesday, June 29th

Platinum Performance Draw Parties
Owners and riders of both Open and Non Pro Derby finalists are invited to celebrate with their friends and family during the Platinum Performance Open and Non Pro Draw Parties. The Open Draw Party is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29 with the Non Pro Draw Party being held the following morning at 9 a.m. Owners and riders will receive a finalist gift from Platinum Performance. Owners will receive a commemorative pin from NRHA. Thank you, Platinum Performance!

Thursday, June 30th

Cimarron Trailers Amazing Trailer Race
Youth 13 & under will have a chance to win their very own Cimarron Trailers mini-model trailer in the second annual Cimarron Trailers Amazing Trailer Race! Preliminaries will be held on Thursday, June 30 at approximately 1:30 p.m. (following the NRHA Interscholastic Reining Championship) in the Super Barn Arena with the finals to be held Saturday night during the Open Derby Finals. Participants will compete in Youth 6 & under, 7-10, and 11-13 age divisions. Stop by the Cimarron Trailers booth in the Super Barn to enter!

NRHA Awards Banquet and Hall of Fame Inductions
Join us on Thursday, June 30 at 6 p.m. at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum to salute the 2010 NRHA World Champions and 2011 NRHA Hall of Fame inductees. Prior to the banquet, help NRHA celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Reining Horse Sports Foundation during the Oklahoma wine reception at 5:45 p.m.

Derby Community Service Project -US Wounded Soldiers Foundation

NRHyA members will be collecting donations to send to the US Wounded Soldiers Foundation. The mission of the US Wounded Soldier Foundation is to provide for the needs of our combat veterans deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. This organization was founded by Oklahoma Reining Horse Association Member, Teresa Goforth. Please join us in helping a fellow NRHA member serve a great need for US combat veterans! 2011 NRHyA Art and Photo Contest:

Show off your artistic side and send it in! The NRHyA Art and Photo Contest is online! This is a great way to show off your love for reining for everyone one to see! All entries must be emailed to kpigg@nrha.com no later than June 10th, 2011. Once all entries are received they will be posted on facebook.com/nrhya for online voting. A ballot box and contest entries will be located at the NRHA Zone during the 2011 NRHA Derby. Contest and entry information can be found at nrhya.com.

Tuesday 28th

7:00 p.m. - Derby Party

NRHyA Dunk Tank -You choose who gets dunked, and in what outfit! Choices will include a very attractive Dolly Parton getup, a genuine hula girl ensemble and a precious baby outfit complete with a bonnet and pacifier. The Dunk of Dan Wall and Allen Mitchels will also be auctioned to the highest bidder. What fun, all while raising money for the future of Reining!

Wednesday 29th

NRHyA Officers, Delegates and Affiliate Youth Officers will have the opportunity to sharpen their leadership skills and experience an adventure on Arcadia Lake. The staff from UCO will lead the group in canoeing and kayaking activities. This will no doubt be a great team building activity followed by a delicious dinner at the coolest landmark on Route 66, Pops!

2:00 pm – Officers, Delegates and Affiliate Youth Officers meet at the Show Office to depart for Arcadia Lake

Thursday 30th

Be sure to come out and support your youth riders in the inaugural NRHA Interscholastic Reining Championship following the Non-Pro classes on Thursday morning. Eight accomplished riders from the NRHyA and IEA will experience the ultimate catch ride on some of the finest horses at the NRHA Derby. Help us celebrate our new alliance partnership with the IEA at the Interscholastic Reining Championship!

Friday 1st

Join us for a Luau! The youth meeting will be held Friday at 8:00 a.m. Come in for breakfast and hang out with your friends as we play games and listen to motivational speakers Jesseb & Jamie Adam. We’ll talk about leadership development and the opportunities you cannot afford to miss in the NRHyA. Don’t forget to bring your appetite because breakfast will be provided. Every youth member is encouraged to attend, invite your friends!

Following the youth meeting will be the NRHyA Speech Contest. With $3,000 in prize money up for grabs we know you will want to take part! There is a category to fit every skill level. Find our more today at nrhya.com or call the NRHA office. The entry deadline is June 10th, do not delay!

Saturday 2nd

The NRHA Collegiate Championship will be held on Saturday, July 2nd at 9:00am. Twelve accomplished riders from the Varsity Equestrian, Intercollegiate Horse Show Association and the NRHA will take part in this exciting catch ride competition.
